Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • translate a wide range of texts at the intermediate level, such as news articles, stories, fictitious stories, etc
  • apply appropriate Chinese and Swedish (or English) vocabularies and structures when performing translations
  • solve translation problems using dictionaries, grammar books and online resources.

Course Content

The students translate different kinds of texts into Chinese. The finished translations are discussed at the seminars, and the students give feedback on the texts of the others.

Assessment

This course applies continuous assessment. Student performance is assessed on the basis of regular written assignments, active in-class performance and a final written exam.

Forms of Study

Chinese is used as the language of instruction and teaching is done in the form of seminars.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

Prerequisites

  • A minimum of 60 credits in Chinese at First cycle
