Learning Outcomes
After completing the course students should be able to:
- describe different research designs and approaches and understand the applicability of the methods of data collection and analysis,
- analyse and evaluate research relevant to nursing from a gender and socio-cultural perspective with respect to the research process, the results’ reliability and validity, researchers’ and research ethics, as well as its clinical application,
- pinpoint a problem area relevant to nursing, establish criteria for the literature search , and carry out that search using relevant search terms in databases,
- design the basis for a project plan for the thesis.

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–G.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Analysis and interpretation of data - 4.5 Credits | U–G
- Bases to a project plan - 1.5 Credits | U–G
- Quality evaluation of research articles - 1.5 Credits | U–G
Prerequisites
- 127,5 credits in Nursing Science and Medical Science where of 52,5 credits in Nursing Science including Methods for Evidence-Based Nursing I 7,5 credits

The course is conducted to a large extent with the support of information and communication technology, which requires an active Internet connection where students can communicate by audio and video via a computer or equivalent.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
