Other Information

If a student does not achieve the objectives of the placement during the regular period, the examiner may decide to extend the placement by one week at each stage. This can be done provided that the examiner determines that the student, as a result of this extension, will be able to achieve the goals and provided that the extension is practically feasible. At the end of the extension, there will be a new assessment of the student’s performance. If the student has still not achieved the goals, he/she will receive the grade Fail, which means that the placement can only be put to reexamination in the respective module. Students have the right to a total of three placement periods. There can only be an extension during the regular placement period. Regular time counts as one (1) period, even if there has been an extension of two weeks.

During the placement, a student can receive the grade Fail in advance if he/she exhibits a lack of knowledge, skills and / or attitudes that means that he/she poses a risk to others physically and/or mentally. The student must then terminate his/her internship and will receive the grade Fail in that part of the course. Decisions on failure in advance are made by the examiner in consultation with the supervisor and clinical lecturer, or equivalent. In conjunction with the decision, an individual development plan for the student will be drawn up by the examiner after consultation with the student, program director and course coordinator. The development plan shall identify the knowledge, skills and attitudes the student needs to acquire for him/her to gain permission to resume his/her placement. The development
plan should also indicate the time of inspection of the relevant knowledge. If during a check the student is deemed not to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes, a time for a new check shall be decided on. A total of two checks on eligibility to resume placement based on the individual development plan that was put in place due to failure in advance may be granted.
