Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • explain the purposes and functions of different assistive products
  • apply models and classifications of assistive technology and assistive products
  • justify the selection of assistive products in relation to different disabilities
  • reflect on users’ perspectives on assistive products and their implementation.

Course Content

The course includes theoretical and practical studies of assistive products, primarily within the areas of hearing, cognition, communication, continence, mobility, pain, language, vision, and speech. In addition, definitions, models, and classifications of assistive products are addressed. Needs and experiences related to assistive products are examined from a user perspective, as well as behavioral science and pedagogical aspects of their implementation.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

Other Information

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.

If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement.
