Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to:
- Evaluate whether or not a specification is complete enough to guide the design work
- Create a design that meets with the product specification
- Continuously evaluate the amount of work that remains in the design process
- Evaluate and motivate the choices made during the design
- Evaluate whether or not the final product meets with the specification and draw conclusions in terms of how the work was conducted
- Present work in a written report
Course Content
The student will design a product based on his or her own idea, a suggestion from an external organisation or from the University. The project starts with the creation of a specification that lists the demands on the product. During the design phase, the student will deliver frequent oral reports on the progress of the work. The reports shall show what has been done, what remains and how the steps have been documented. Finally the completed work is evaluated.
