Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • explain fundamental methodological approaches in research,
  • describe and apply basic principles of research ethics,
  • use database searches to find relevant scientific literature,
  • interpret and review scientific articles,
  • describe, document, and discuss scientific processes in accordance with academic standards.

Course Content

The course covers scientific writing, research methodology, research processes, and what it means to adopt a critical approach. It introduces methods for searching for scientific information, analysing and summarising research, as well as the application of research processes in various contexts.

Assessment

  • Oral examination in groups
  • Individual written assignments

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–G.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Methodological approaches and research ethics - 2.5 Credits | U–G
  • Research processes - 5 Credits | U–G

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
