Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate techniques in winter outdoor education with a focus on leadership and safety in different outdoor environments
  • move in a versatile manner in forms and contexts in winter outdoor education that are relevant for the profession
  • analyse winter outdoor education from a norm critical perspective
  • plan, implement and evaluate teaching for the purpose of developing the ability to perform winter outdoor activities that are of relevance for the profession.

Course Content

  • Gliding on snow and is and games on snow and ice
  • Techniques in skiing (cross-country, back-country and downhill) and skating
  • Winter journey with overnight stay in close outdoor enviroment
  • Aspects of safety and emergency during teaching

Assessment

  • Embodied examinations and individual written assignments.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Embodied examinations and individual written assignments - 7.5 Credits | U–VG

  • General entry requirements

Other Information

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.

If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement.
