Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall, in French, be able to:
- describe and discuss events in and aspects of the history of France
- describe orally and in writing cultural and social conditions in France.
Course Content
During the course, articles and texts dealing with the history and culture of France, French society and the French-speaking world, are analysed both orally and in writing. Students also reflect critically on these texts.
Assessment
The course is assessed continuously through active participation in seminars,oral presentations and written assignments including an independent short text.
Forms of Study
Teaching consists of lectures and obligatory seminars, where students should participate actively. Instruction is in French.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required in both modules.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Active participation in seminars and oral presentations - 2.5 cr
Module 2: Written assignments - 5 cr
Prerequisites
- French Written Proficiency I, 7.5 credits, French Oral Proficiency, 7.5 credits, French Literature I: From 1900 to the Present Day, 7.5 credits and French: Culture and Society I, 7.5 credits on First cycle
- No knowledge of Swedish is required.
