Learning Outcomes
Upon completiion of the course, students shall be able to:
- describe the main characteristics of linguistics history, especially French linguistics
- describe fundamental concepts in general and French linguistics
- describe some aspects of linguistic theory, methods and materials
- demonstrated the ability to critically use relevant knowledge sources ( library, internet , etc. ).
Course Content
The course gives an introduction to both general linguistics and French linguistics. The course also examines significant research materials and methods within the linuistic field.
Assessment
Continuous assessment through active participation in seminars, written assignments and a final wirtten examination.
Forms of Study
Teaching is both in the form of lectures and obligatory seminars in which students shall participate actively. Instruction is in French.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To achieve the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required in modules 1 and 3.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Active participation in seminars - 3 cr
Module 2: Written assignments - 1.5 cr
Module 3: Final written examination - 3 cr
Prerequisites
- 30 credits in French, including the courses French Written Proficiency I, 7.5 credits and French Oral Proficiency, 7.5 credits at First cycle. No knowledge of Swedish is required.
