Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • explain the role of sponsorship as a medium for marketing and a means of resource acquisition
  • explain central theories and current research issues in the field of sponsorship
  • analyse and present academic studies in the field
  • search for and analyse relevant information on sponsorship-related phenomena
  • measure the effect of sponsorship
  • identify relevant problems based on sponsorship opportunities and constraints, and use of theories and models to analyse these problems
  • consider the social and ethical aspects of sponsorship.

Course Content

The course has two modules. In the first module, Sponsorship as an Exchange Process and Societal Phenomenon, the field of sponsorship is introduced with a starting point in basic marketing and research. Focus is on the analysis and presentation of academic studies in the field of sponsorship. The second module, Different Forms of Sponsorship, identifies and analyses sponsorship phenomena such as activation and impact measurement.

Grades

The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.

For the grade Pass with distinction on the course, VG is required on the second module and G on the first module.

Grades are reported as follows:

  • Markets, exchange and resource mobilization in sports hybrids - 2.5 Credits | U–G
  • Sponsorship in practice: Activation, evaluation and impact measurement - 5 Credits | U–VG

Entry Requirements

  • Sport Management II, 7.5 credits, Organisation A, 7.5 credits, Marketing B, 7.5 credits and one course in method 7.5 credits

Other Information

Students who have been admitted to and registered on the course are entitled to receive instruction and/or supervision during the time set for the specific course instance to which they have been admitted.

Students must be able to describe and explain their contribution to group assignments.

Any remaining assignments must be submitted no later than the times specified by the teacher.

The course overlaps FÖ2010 and FÖ2027.

This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.

If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
