Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course students will be able to:
- explain concepts, models, and theories in strategic marketing.
- explain concepts and models that are relevant in market planning.
- make strategic market assessments based on different market situations.
- search for, collect, and evaluate secondary data as a basis for market planning.
- complete, present, and argue for a marketing plan.
- critically review and discuss marketing plans.
- reflect on and consider the social and ethical aspects of market planning.
Course Content
The course has two modules. The first module, Concepts, Models, Theories and Strategic Assessments in Marketing, focuses on the applicability of different marketing strategies in different marketing situations, and also on how data is collected and used as a basis for market research and market planning. In the second module, Application of Knowledge in Marketing Planning, the focus is on the function, construction and content of a market plan.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To pass the course with credit (VG), students require a VG in both modules.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Concepts, models, theories and strategic assessments in marketing - 2 Credits | U–VG
- Application of knowledge in marketing planning - 5.5 Credits | U–VG
Entry Requirements
- Organisation and Marketing A 15 Credits or Organisation A 7.5 Credits and Marketing A 7.5 Credits
Other Information
Students who have been admitted to and registered on the course are entitled to receive instruction and/or supervision during the time set for the specific course instance to which they have been admitted.
Students must be able to describe and explain their contribution to group assignments.
Any remaining assignments must be submitted no later than the dates specified by the teacher.
This course cannot be included in the same degree as courses: FÖ1017 and FÖ1041.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
