Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course students will be able to:
- explain basic concepts, models and theoretical foundations in the knowledge area of leadership
- explain basic concepts, models and theoretical foundations in the knowledge area of organisational behaviour and individual motivation, as well as the role of individuals and groups in the organisation
- discuss the effect of leadership on the individual and the organisation, and identify and discuss the principal conditions that make leadership of groups and individuals possible in different industries
- identify the principal factors that prevent the perseverance and dedication of groups at work
- make judgements of social and ethical aspects in the area of leadership.
Course Content
The course has two modules, Basic Concepts. Models and Theories and Organisational Analysis. Central to the first module are motivation and driving forces both at the individual and group level as well as how work groups are put together and function. The module also focuses on the prerequisites for leadership and the differences between management and leadership. A key element is to highlight and discuss leadership from different perspectives such as roles, tasks, and practical execution. Basic theories, concepts, and models of organisational behaviour are also covered.
The second module, Organisational Analyses, focuses on the effects of leadership on the individual and the organisation as well as the basic conditions that make the leadership of groups and individuals possible.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
To pass the course with credit (VG), students require VG in both modules.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Basic concepts, models and theoretical foundations in the area of leadership - 4 Credits | U–VG
- Organisation analysis - 3.5 Credits | U–VG
Entry Requirements
- Organisation and Marketing A 15 Credits or Organisation A 7.5 Credits and Marketing A 7.5 Credits
Other Information
Students who have been admitted to and registered on the course are entitled to receive instruction and/or supervision during the time set for the specific course instance to which they have been admitted.
Students must be able to describe and explain their contribution to group assignments.
Any remaining seminar assignments must be submitted no later than the dates specified by the teacher.
This course cannot be included in the same degree as courses FÖ1007, FÖ1038 and FÖ1042.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
