Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • carry out photovoltaic installations according to current Swedish regulations that meet the highest requirements in terms of quality
  • describe the function and working principle of the various system components in a photovoltaic system in a solar installation
  • use regulations and safety in conjunction with photovoltaic installations
  • explain the most typical mistakes that can be made during photovoltaic installation and the ways to avoid them

Course Content

The course covers assembly, installation and commissioning of photovoltaic systems, as well as operation, maintenance and typical failures in photovoltaic systems.

Students put their knowledge into practice by installing a 4 kW photovoltaic system onto a tile roof and a flat roof. They also experience troubleshooting and commissioning on the same system. The most common mistakes during installations are reviewed, and students are shown how to make installations secure.

Assessment

Oral exam at the end of the course, 3 credits
Active participation at seminars, 1 credit
Installation project, 1 credit

Forms of Study

Recorded lectures, compulsory seminars and compulsory installation project.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

For the oral examination the grading scale (U-VG) is used.
Seminars and compulsory installation project (U-G).
The overall grade is based on the oral examination.

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge on solar radiation, planning, dimensioning and simulating of solar system is required. The prerequisites can be achived by self-studies with recorded lectures. English 6 is also required.

Other Information

Self-study material for prerequisites is available through recorded lectures. You receive them on demand via the course coordinator.
