Course Content

The course consists of three modules. The first module deals with the differences between news, information, advertising, disinformation and propaganda based on how the media and democracy relate to each other. This module includes ethics, copyright production-related implications and moral stances in the media. The content of the second module consists of idea processes and project planning that are documented. Special emphasis is on the analysis of audiovisual material based on multimodal and communication theory perspectives that demonstrate various conventions and communication requirements. Basic theories connected to the field of ethics are discussed. The third module consists of the implementation of audiovisual productions where moving material, graphics, sound and voice must work together to communicate in social media. The course aims to increase, both through theory and practice, students’ understanding of how the development of media technology and audiovisual communication creates demands on the media producer’s critical abilities.
