Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will independently be able to:
- conduct a scientific investigation using a relevant design, methodology and analysis
- critically analyse concepts, theories and perspectives in global sexual, reproductive health and rights from a sustainability perspective
- identify a scientific problem statement and purpose based on current research knowledge in a defined area
- search, critically evaluate and synthesise scientific evidence, and integrate theories and concepts within the chosen area
- adhere to principles of research ethics
- argue for and critically reflect on their chosen design in relation to the scientific purpose
- analyse and evaluate their results in relation to previous research
- evaluate their own contribution to the development of knowledge and present suggestions for further research
- defend and communicate their own scientific work and critically evaluate the scientific work of others as regards its level of science, systematic approach, content and structure.
Course Content
In the course, students learn how to plan, conduct and compile a scientific investigation within the field of sexual, reproductive and perinatal health in compliance with the different components of the research process. The course also includes the defence of the degree thesis and the critical review of another student’s degree thesis.

Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is U–VG.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Examination, opponent/respondent - 15 Credits | U–VG
Entry Requirements
- A Bachelors degree 180 credits in a social sciences/health sciences/economics main field of study and English 6
Other Information
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
