Learning Outcomes

After completion of the course the student shall be able to:

  • define a draft of a specific area of research within the field of African Studies
  • present a short overview of contemporary research associated with the chosen area of research
  • present a preliminary objective and tentative analytical questions for his/her own research project.

Course Content

The student will work on developing a smaller draft for a research proposal. This will comprise a preliminary definition of a specific area of research, a presentation of an overview of the relevant state of research as well as the preliminary objective, questions and outline of the future research project.

Assessment

Students are examined through the assessment of active participation in seminars and the presentation of the research proposal.

Forms of Study

Seminars, where the language of instruction is English.

Grades

The Swedish grades A–F.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor Degree of 180 credits in the field of Humanities, Social Sciences or Education and English 6
