Learning Outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Identify a relevant topic in the area of Business Administration and demonstrate a good understanding of the area of research and the factors affecting the chosen topic.
- Independently develop a relevant theoretical framework.
- Convincingly argue for the choice of research method.
- Identify, collect and present a relevant empirical (or equivalent) data material.
- Analyze and discuss the empirical material using relevant analysis methods.
- Discuss societal and/or ethical issues of relevance for the thesis.
- Communicate the main arguments, contents and results of the study in a scholarly manner.
- Critically examine other reports both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate insights into the chosen topic, research area and related methodological questions.
Course Content
Students plan, prepare and write a scientific thesis
independently (10 weeks).
Tutorials will be given during the course. The drafts and final papers
are presented and defended
in seminars where students discuss
and critically assess
each other works.
Assessment
Written thesis and active participation in 3 obligatory seminars with oral presentations of written papers (thesis in different stages of the development) and defence of own work and being the opponent of another student’s work. (15 credits)

Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
The final grade for the course is set after an overall assessment by the examiner.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration or equivalent. 30 credits on advanced level in Business Administration and Research Design and Theory of Science and Methods, 15 credits Advanced Level
Other Information
The thesis must be submitted at the time specified by the examiner. Assessment can only be done at specified examinations. Most theses are written by students working together in pairs. However, please note that each student must be prepared to give an account of their own contributions. The students who are admitted and registered for the course are entitled to supervision during the period of the course to which they were accepted. Revised manuscripts must be submitted no later than the time specified by the examiner.
