Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- translate fictional text into English
- use idiomatic language in the translation
- provide a detailed theoretical explanation and rationale for the translation strategies used
- independently search and compile reference materials necessary for a translation.
Course Content
The course includes a translation of a fictional text that was first written in a language other than English. In consultation with the teacher, students choose a short text that is not available in English. Students translate this text into English and present it in an annotated form that describes the strategies and reference materials that they used.

- Active participation in supervision
- Written assignment
Grades
The grading scale used for the final course grade is A–F.
Grades are reported as follows:
- Translation Project - 7.5 Credits | A–F
Entry Requirements
- 60 credits at Second Cycle, with 30 credits in the main field of study Intercultural Literature Studies
Other Information
This course overlaps the previous course code AJP279.
This course cannot be counted towards the same degree along with courses that have equivalent content.
If the student has received a decision/recommendation granting study support from Dalarna University because of a disability, then the examiner has the right to offer an alternative examination arrangement. The examiner takes into account the objectives in the course syllabus when deciding whether the examination can be adapted in accordance with the decision/recommendation.
