Learning outcomes for the course

On completion of the course the student should be able to:

  • Communicate verbally in familiar and everyday situations and develop communication strategies to meet unexpected and / or unknown language situations
  • Use basic phonetic concepts and demonstrate their understanding of these by correct Italian pronunciation and intonation
  • Describe the content in short written texts, dealing with everyday situations
  • Write short coherent texts, such as messages and personal letters, and make simple written summaries and translations of texts with everyday content
  • Discuss the systematic similarities and differences between Swedish / English and the Italian language regarding pronunciation, grammar and the lexicon
  • Show an understanding of basic grammatical concepts and idiomatic expressions in speech and writing and apply these in simple linguistic analyses
  • Describe how to use information technology as a source of knowledge and resource for language learning, and critically evaluate the acquired knowledge
  • Describe basic knowledge of Italian cultural, political and social conditions as well as Italian language development
  • Evaluate their own learning progress by reflecting on difficulties encountered and the solutions to these.
