Learning outcomes for the course

The overall objective of the course is that students will develop both in depth knowledge and skills related to structured product development methods as well as scientific skills.

Upon completion of the course, students shall be able to:

  • search for scientific articles within the field of product development and discuss different approaches to product development
  • conduct deeper studies within a specific area of product development and write a review article in a scientific manner
  • explain different product development methods and processes that are discussed in the research field
  • use different product development tools and methods to analyse an existing product, and propose improvements, or, alternatively, develop and evaluate a product idea
  • present their completed work both orally and in writing
  • plan and implement a small-scale product development project
