Degree Certificates and Levels

When you have completed your studies, you can apply for a degree certificate. The degree certificate proves that you have fulfilled the requirements of your degree.

Degree Certificates

When you have completed your studies, you can apply for a degree certificate from the Office of Student Services and Education Administration. The degree certificate proves that you have fulfilled the requirements of your degree.

Staff will assess your application against national and local degree regulations. Generally, the processing time for a degree certificate is eight weeks maximum after your submission of a complete application to the University.

The main text in the degree certificate is Swedish and the sub-text is English. The certificate includes a diploma supplement, which describes your studies and presents information on, for example, programme content. You should present the diploma supplement together with the degree certificate. This is especially important for employment applications and other such purposes outside Sweden.

There is no cost for either the degree certificate or the diploma supplement.

Digital Degree Certificates

As of 1 January 2024, Dalarna University will only issue digital degree certificates. A digital degree certificate contains the same information as a degree certificate in paper format.

When your degree certificate has been issued, you will receive a notification by e-mail. Your digital degree certificate is always available: you can download it in Ladok for students (or Ladok for alumni) at any time. This avoids paper copies, attestation, and scanning. The degree certificate is a PDF file that receives an e-stamp. The e-stamp means that the document cannot be altered after it has been retrieved from Ladok. If you or somebody else wants to verify your degree certificate, you can upload the document to Ladok's page for verification. It is also possible to verify the e-stamp using Adobe.

To open the degree certificate correctly, you must first download it onto your computer and then open it with a PDF reader. If you try to open it with a PDF editor, you may not be able to since the document is not allowed to be edited.

Your degree certificate is not password-protected. If your computer still requests a password, then you are using the wrong program: please try a PDF reader instead. PDF readers can be downloaded for free from the internet.

Share Information About Your Degree

You can share information about your degree (such as what courses it includes) with a third party (such as an employer) digitally instead of sending them a paper copy.

More information about sharing your degree is availabe from Ladok.
