They were welcomed by Professor Christophe Ménézo, Director of LOCIE and of the French research federation FédESol; Professor Monika Woloszyn, Director of the Solar Academy Graduate School and coordinator of the Master's programme Solar Energy: Engineering and Management; and Lina Henao-Valencia, Research Engineer and International Project Manager at the Solar Academy.
The visit included meetings at the National Solar Research Institute INES and the LOCIE laboratory in Le Bourget-du-Lac/Chambéry, as well as visits to the research environments LISTIC and SYMME, as well as the Business School IAE on USMB’s Annecy campus.
Polytech USMB encompasses several educational and research units including LOCIE (Building Energy Process Laboratory), SYMME (Institute of Advanced Mechatronics) led by Professor Laurent Tabourot, and LISTIC (Data Science and AI) headed by Professor Sébastien Monnet.
The first day was spent at the Le Bourget-du-Lac campus and LOCIE, where respective activities and collaboration opportunities were discussed, as well as learning about their research on the role and integration of energy systems in buildings and the built environment. The solar energy laboratory, in particular, is highly developed.
At the Annecy campus, there was a meeting with Professor Laurent Tabourot, who has participated in collaborations between Dalarna University and USMB since the early 1990s and has visited our Borlänge campus several times. The collaboration within Computer Science between our Schools also has a long history, including both student and faculty exchanges.
There is already well advanced planning towards the establishment of a new agreement for a joint double degree in Solar Energy Engineering, and it was agreed to renew and deepen the collaboration between our Schools in the coming years.
