During the academic year’s last School Conference, the new Associate Professors presented themselves and their academic journey thus far.
Auday completed his PhD in Computer Science, specialised in cloud computing, in 2017. His postdoctoral studies were completed at Karlstad University and Mälardalen University. Auday’s current research here at Dalarna University focuses on the performance and energy efficiency in computing models. In addition to his research, his teaching specialties include operating systems, theory of computation, distributed systems, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things.
Roger’s presentation was entitled “A Shared Scientific Journey: Integrating Applied AI, Mentorship and Collaborative Progress”. His research focuses on applied computing, machine learning, and computer vision, specifically solving problems within transport infrastructure, supply chains, and healthcare. Roger co-supervised three doctoral students to completion between 2018–2024 and currently co-supervises three candidates across diverse fields such as energy and health sciences. Strategically, he led the structural modernisation of the Computing subject and the alignment of its bachelor's programmes. Looking ahead, Roger aims to achieve full professorship, advance along the university's pedagogical qualification pathway, and further expand his ongoing sports science research, particularly within sports analytics and performance analysis.
Ilias undertook his mathematics bachelor's degree in Greece which led to a master’s in mathematical statistics in Sweden where he also completed his PhD which concerned dosing schedules for Parkinson’s disease. Since then, Ilias has focused on, for example, research related to analysis of the effects of Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, and dementia. Ilias is also programme manager for the Business Intelligence and Data Science programmes, a member of the university’s ethics committee, as well as an active, experiential, hands-on teacher.
