Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, students shall be able to:

  • initiate and actively participate in everyday conversations in Russian
  • in Russian describe orally the contents of simple authentic audio and video recordings
  • pronounce the Russian language sounds correctly in terms of intonation
  • discuss the content and grammatical structures in simple texts in Russian
  • orally summarise simple texts in Russian.

Course Content

In the course students practise basic language skills such as listening, speaking and reading comprehension. Oral proficiency receives particular emphasis. Grammar studies are included so that students can develop the ability to understand and apply the language structure of Russian.

Assessment

Students are examined continuously through the assessment of active participation in seminars as well as through a final oral examination.

Forms of Study

English and/or Swedish are used as support languages, but Russian is used as the language of instruction as much as possible. Instruction is conducted through group activities and obligatory seminars.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

To receive the grade of VG for the whole course, VG is required on module 1.

Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Active participation in seminars - 7.5 cr
Module 2: Oral examination - 2.5 cr

Prerequisites

  • 30 credits in Russian, including the course Russian I: Basic Course 3, 15 credits on First cycle. No knowledge of Swedish is required
