When you have confirmed your study place with us, you need to create a user account (electronic identity), which will allow you access to a number of online services to help facilitate your daily life as a student with us.
You can find out which rooms have been booked for your course in our local booking system TimeEdit. This is the case for most courses. However, some teachers present the timetable in the course room in Learn. Be sure to check what the case is for your course.

Learn: Learning Platform
You can find all the information about your courses in Learn. This includes material, such as lecture notes, information about lectures, the timetable, the course syllabus, articles, names of other students in the course, and tips on further reading material.
You will most likely submit your assignments in the course room where the teacher can easily comment on your work. Discussion forums allow students and teachers to have discussions, ask questions and receive answers.
Digital Accessibility and Blackboard Ally
Everyone benefits when course content has been developed with accessibility in mind. In Blackboard Learn, the learning management system used by Dalarna University, you will find the accessibility tool known as Ally. Ally allows students to make best use of the material in the Learn course room because it can be converted into another format.
Thanks to Ally, you can use more accessible file formats that can help you to study more effectively depending on your situation. For example, if your eyes are tired or perhaps you want to get out for a walk, you can convert a PDF file to a sound file so that you can listen to the text instead. Another example is if you use a tablet and want to make notes and mark up a text, you can convert the file to an ePub. Ally offers you several alternative formats. Here are four of them:
This type of PDF contains tags and provides a logical structure for use with assistive technology.
For viewing in a web browser and on mobile devices
BRF version for use on electronic braille screens
Improved versions for simpler, quicker reading on a screen
Download Alternative Formats
To download a file in another format, click on the logo that looks like an A with a downwards arrow. You can find the logo to the right of every file in the course room in Learn.
In Zoom, you can meet to talk with other students, work on your assignments, share a whiteboard and your computer screen, and view different programmes, such as PowerPoint. Zoom is used for teaching purposes, such as for seminars and oral examinations.
If Zoom is used in your course, you can find the Zoom link in Learn.
In Ladok, the national portal for students, you can:
- register for courses you have been admitted to
- view your study results
- certificate of registration and national certificate of results
- apply for a degree certificate
- If you have previously studied at another university and are unable to log in via Dalarna University, clear your browser history and the cache memory.
Computer Rooms on Campus
There are 12 computer rooms at the University. There are also several computer workstations in the libraries. The computer rooms in Borlänge have 24-hour access. The ones in Falun you can access between 07.00 and 20.00 (only room 151 has 24-hour access). To get into the computer rooms and to use the computers, you need to have a keycard and a user account (all these rooms are locked).
WiFi - Wireless network, Eduroam
Dalarna's wireless network, Eduroam, allows you access to secure WiFi internet when you are on Campus Falun and Campus Borlänge. It works at other higher education institutions as well. To use Eduroam, you need first to install a certificate on each device you plan to use, such as a computer, mobile phone or tablet.
When you study at Dalarna University, you are given access to various software, such as Microsoft Office 365, the reference management software EndNote, and the spelling software Spell Rex and SpellRight.
