Research

I am currently leading the following research project:

"Successful integration, post-memories, and cultural belongings. The children of German-speaking Nazi-refugees in contemporary Sweden"

(”Framgångsrik integration, postminnen och kulturella tillhörigheter. Barn till tysktalande flyktingar från Nazi-Tyskland i dagens Sverige")

The project focuses on the post-memories, life stories, and cultural identities of the children of German-speaking refugees who fled the Nazi regime and settled in Sweden. By examining the second generation’s cultural memories of persecution, flight, and exile, the study illuminates conditions for their successful integration. It combines perspectives from migration studies and memory studies and is based on interviews with members of the second generation.

Other researchers in the project:

Johannes Heuman (Södertörn högskola)

The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council (2025-2027).
