The Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftlesen), as part of its Early Academic Career programme, concluded that it is “a well-structured and industry-oriented project with clear relevance for participating actors and good conditions to strengthen the research and education environment”. This merited their agreement to co-fund the project together with the project partners.
Specifically, the project will focus on the role of large-scale thermal storage systems to enable efficient heat production, and to bring resilience and security of supply.
Puneet Saini and Chris Bales will collaborate with local partners: Borlänge energi, Falun energi och vatten, and EcoDataCenter; other Swedish partners: Växjö energi, Söderhamn Nära, and Jönköping energi; as well as a European partner: ecop Technologies GmbH, an Austrian manufacturer of high temperature heat pumps.
