Health and Wellness Allowance (Friskvårdsbidrag)

Dalarna University employees receive several benefits, one of which is a health and wellness allowance (friskvårdsbidrag) that you can use towards activities that promote fitness and well-being.

This allowance is currently SEK 2 000 per year.

If you have not yet worked for one whole year, the amount of your allowance will depend on how many months you have been an employee and will be adjusted accordingly. Employees on sick leave or parental leave are still entitled to receive the health and wellness allowance.

To receive your allowance, you first need to buy (for example) your gym pass. Next, go to Primula and on “My page” in the left menu, click on “Health and Wellness Allowance”. Type in the information, submit the form electronically and print out a copy. Send the printed copy with the original receipt to HR.

Wide Choice of Activities

Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) decides which fitness and wellness activities the University can include in this allowance.

Here are some examples of approved activities:

  • Apps for fitness and wellness
  • Discgolf
  • Football
  • Gym membership and passes
  • Innebandy
  • Choir singing
  • Dance
  • Nicotine-withdrawal aids
  • Horse riding
  • Starting fee for a race (running, walking, etc.)
  • Sport fishing
  • Zumba

Other Health and Wellness Benefits

In addition to the health and wellness allowance, you can also receive discounts or price reductions at several local gyms and sport facilities. You are also entitled to use up to one hour of your paid working week for a fitness activity (see the webpage Health and Wellness Hour – Friskvårdstimme).
