Sunet Survey Research

Sunet Survey is a tool used to create, conduct and analyse surveys relating to the university and research. You can work with everything from simple surveys based on ready-made templates to more advanced surveys requiring consent declarations, logic or multilingualism.

At Dalarna University, there are two versions of the Sunet Survey. Which version to use depends on the type of data being collected:

  • Sunet Survey Research should be used only for surveys containing sensitive personal data. For all other surveys, use Sunet Survey for staff instead.
  • Sunet Survey for staff (Sunet Survey för medarbetare) is used for university-related surveys, such as course evaluations and internal follow-ups. It may also be used for research surveys that do not contain sensitive personal data: Sunet Survey för medarbetare - Högskolan Dalarna

Getting started with Sunet Survey research

  1. For access to Sunet Survey Research (Sunet Survey forskning), contact support@du.se and request authorisation. Please also state how long you require access, as authorisation is time-limited.
For students processing sensitive personal data, the examiner, course coordinator or equivalent decides on access to Sunet Survey Research and contacts support services to apply for authorisation.
  2. Once you have been granted access, log in to Sunet Survey Research. The first time you log in, you may need to search for Dalarna University on the start page. Log in using your university user account credentials.
  3. On the start page, you will see the surveys and reports that you most recently accessed. From there, you can reopen them or create new ones without using the menus on the left.

Working in Sunet Survey research

Sunet Survey Research is intended for surveys containing sensitive personal data. As a general rule, surveys should be kept private and shared only with authorised individuals. Since this setting is configured separately for each survey, you are responsible for verifying this when you create the survey.

When creating a survey, the recommendation is that you use the university’s templates: Högskolan Dalarna-mall för forskare or the English Dalarna University template for researchers. These templates include suitable default settings to simplify the process: you may adjust these if needed.

You can find the templates in Sunet Survey.

As a researcher, you are responsible for complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), relevant ethical guidelines and local regulations for the handling and archiving of research data.

Exporting and deleting data

When a survey has been completed, you should export the data you need and save it to Dalarna University storage (H:, L: or F: drives).

Once you have ensured that you have saved all relevant information, the data must be removed from Sunet Survey. This is done by closing and deleting the survey. You are personally responsible for ensuring that this deletion is carried out.

See the guide on how to export and delete your research data: Sunet Survey Forskning - Innehåll: Instruktioner för digitala verktyg
