Swedish and English course titles

Rule:

Provide both a Swedish and an English title. Courses that include a degree project must be named in a specific way: see the examples below.

Tip:

If the course is included in a programme, make sure the course title matches the one in the programme syllabus.

Questions to consider:

  • Is the title unique to the subject area?
  • Does the title provide a clear indication of the course content?
  • Do the Swedish and English titles convey the same meaning?

Example:

Fransk 1600-talslyrik, 7,5 hp/French 17th-Century Poetry, 7.5 credits

Special rules for courses that include a degree project:

Courses that include a degree project must contain the term Examensarbete/Degree Thesis in the title as well as a designation indicating the degree to which the course leads and, in the case of a general qualification, the main field of study in which the degree thesis is to be completed.

Examples, general qualification:

Kandidatexamensarbete i informatik / Degree Thesis in Information Systems
Magisterexamensarbete i omvårdnad / Degree Thesis in Nursing
Masterexamensarbete i mikrodataanalys / Degree Thesis in Microdata Analysis

Examples, professional qualification:

Examensarbete för barnmorskeexamen / Degree Thesis for the Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery
Examensarbete för specialistsjuksköterska med inriktning demensvård / Degree Thesis for the Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing – Dementia Care
