Modules

The course modules are the components of a course for which students’ assessment results are reported in Ladok.

A course may have one or several modules. Completion of a module generates funding for the university. A module is also the smallest unit reported to CSN regarding a student's academic performance. There are therefore several advantages to dividing a course into multiple modules, particularly when the course has a large credit value. You report results for a completed module; you cannot report results for only a part of a module.

The total number of credits for all modules must equal the total credit value of the course.

Tips:

The title of a module should not refer to a form of assessment, for example, written examination or written assignment. The module title should instead describe its content: for example, "Grammar" or "Contrastive Cultural Studies". This makes it easier for students to receive credit transfer for parts of a course and to include completed parts of an unfinished course in a degree.

If the course is planned to include assessment using Inspera, a separate module should be created for that assessment. This will enable the future direct transfer of grades between Inspera and Ladok. In such cases, the module could appropriately be named "Grammar Examination", or similar.
