Important Dates

March 20, 2025 – General Rehearsal

17.00-19.00: General rehearsal at Kulturhuset tio14 in Falun: attendees receive information about the procedures for the ceremony.

Everyone who will be honoured at the ceremony needs to attend the rehearsal.

March 21, 2025 – Day of the Academic Ceremony

  • 16.30: Procession – all who are being honoured should gather in their designated places in Kulturhuset tio14. Other guests must have taken their seats.
  • 17.00: Academic Ceremony.
  • 19.00 (approx.): Welcome drink and Banquet
  • 23.45 Banquet ends (Bus depart to Campus Borlänge)

Honoured as associate professor

To be honoured as associate professor (docent), you must have been appointed between 1 November 2022 and 30 September 30 2024 at Dalarna University. 

The following applies if you have stated that you will attend the ceremony:

  • Read the information and respect the deadlines.
  • Submit text for the ceremonial publication "Högtidsskriften". 
  • Attend a general rehearsal of ceremony proceedings.
  • Attend the ceremony and banquet. 

You will receive updates (a newsletter) from hogtid@du.se to your university email address. This will keep you updated on ceremony planning and important deadlines.


Registration: Ceremony and Banquet

The Academic Ceremony will be held at Kulturhuset tio14 and will be followed by a banquet at Magasinet in Falun. Everyone who will be honoured needs to register themself and all their accompanying guests to the  banquet.

  • The University invites new associate professor (docent) to attend the banquet with one guest at no cost.
  • You may invite two additional guests to attend the banquet at a subsidised cost.
  • We recommend that guests be at least 15 years old.

Dress Code: Ceremony and Banquet

For associate professors is the dress code formal attire: dark suit (black, navy blue, or dark grey) with a light-coloured shirt and tie or bow tie (any colour except white or black), folk costume (folkdräkt), dress, trouser suit, skirt or trousers with a matching top, where the length of the skirt/trousers should be below the knee. Formal footwear. The same dress code applies to accompanying guests.

If you plan to attend the Academic Ceremony, please be aware that the inaugural lectures and the ceremony will be both photographed and filmed. If you do not want to appear in the photos or film, please contact hogtid@du.se.
