Briefly, Santiago's research focuses on how much greenhouse gases are reduced by the use of solar panels in different locations. His results show that a solar energy installation in Cyprus could reduce by as much as 31 times the climate impact compared to a similar system installed in Sweden. These calculations were done hour by hour, which is more accurate than previously used methods. His conclusions could help guide the installation of solar panels so that they provide a higher climate benefit.
Marcus Gustafsson, Associate Professor at Linköping University acted as Opponent and Mats Rönnelid, Professor of Energy Engineering was the examiner.
The seminar was chaired by Ewa Wäckelgård, Deputy Head of School and was attended by family members, colleagues and fellow researchers.
