Dalarna University Centre of African Studies (DUCAS)
Dalarna University Centre for African Studies is part of the Department of Humanities and Languages. DUCAS has two principal objectives:
The first objective is to create conditions for the promotion of African Studies in Sweden and the European Union. The academic partners of DUCAS are the Universities of Bologna, Italy, and Oulu, Finland. DUCAS collaborates actively with the Nordic Africa Institute and the Life and Peace Institute, Uppsala.
The second objective is to mobilise support and enhance awareness about Africa and African issues in the region of Dalarna where our University is located. Finally, DUCAS provides the institutional base for the One-year Master Programme in African Studies and the One-year-Master Programme in African Literature and Postcolonial Studies.
