Extended opening hours at the library

As a student or employee at the university, you have access to the library even when it is not staffed. On this page you find information on how it works and tips on what to do if something happens.

The library is staffed and open to everyone from 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. In addition to that, as a student or employee, you can access the library with your key card from 6 PM to 8 PM on weekdays and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays.

These hours apply to both the libraries in Falun and Borlänge. In Falun, you need to use the entrance door close to the reception to enter the library during the extended hours.

If you're a student in Borlänge and want to access Falun's library during extended opening hours, you need to exchange your access card at the Helpdesk in Falun.

Opening hours and contact information.

What should I do if something happens when the library is not staffed?

In case of serious incidents

In emergencies such as fire, accidents, ongoing crimes, or other urgent, serious events – ensure your own safety and the safety of those around you, and call 112.

Then follow the university's procedures for crisis and safety.

The nearest defibrillator is located outside the reception area.

Less urgent incidents

Please call the security guards at phone number 010-222 21 21 or 010-210 90 00.

Practical information

Are the self-service machines out of order?

If you want to borrow books and the self-service machine is not working, you need to come back during staffed opening hours to borrow the books.

If you want to return books, there are book return slots outside the library buildings.

How does it work for public visitors (not affiliated with the university)?

If you are not an employee or student at the university, you are welcome during our staffed opening hours.
