Summary in English

The course aims to lay the foundation for an ability to communicate in German. Upon completion of the course the students should be able to:

  • read and understand texts from different familiar every-day areas
  • understand the main content of slowly spoken German in every-day situations
  • interact in German orally in everyday situations
  • write simple cohesive texts on known subjects
  • demonstrate some knowledge of the link between culture, language and identity
  • use basic grammatical terms and idiomatic expressions, and use them in linguistic analyses
  • demonstrate an awareness of different learning strategies and use them in their langauge learning.
