Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • express themselves actively in different social situations
  • handle simple grammatical structures
  • read and write 500-700 Chinese characters
  • pronounce and identify the language sounds of Chinese and be aware of how these differ from English/Swedish.

Course Content

The course consists of two parts, oral proficiency (4 ECTS-credits) and written proficiency (3.5 ECTS-credits). The course builds on the language skills that students were introduced to in Chinese in Speech and Writing: Part 1 and consists of practising language skills through speaking and listening as well as recognising and practising to write characters. Reading simple texts is also part of the course.

Assessment

Oral and written examination.

Forms of Study

English is used as a support language in lectures and seminars.

Grades

The Swedish grades U–VG.

For VG on the whole at least 4 ECTS-credits VG is needed.

  • Chinese in Speech and Writing: Part 1 7.5 credits
