Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, students will be able to
- show an in-depth knowledge of Italian 18th, 19th and 20th century literature with the most meaningful authors and literary currents,
- demonstrate knowledge of the authors’ biographies and most famous works,
- show an ability to read, discuss and analyse in Italian the content of some chosen literary works,
- write a paper using relevant literary terms and concepts presenting the chosen works, the authors and their further writing, and
- demonstrate an ability to reflect upon the chosen literary works from an historical and social point of view and the relationship between the two.
Course Content
During the course the students will develop an ability to understand and analyse Italian texts based on 18th, 19th and 20th century literature. The course consists of a survey of Italian literature history during those centuries and the most meaningful works, authors and literary currents or those centuries.
Assessment
The course is examined through continuous assessment of seminar activity, assignments and a final written exam.
Forms of Study
The course, which is completely web-based, is taught in Italian and consists of lectures and of obligatory seminars in which students are expected to participate actively.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
To get the grade of VG on the whole course, VG is required on module 2.
Reporting of grades:
Module 1: Active participation in seminars and assignments - 3 cr
Module 2: Final written exam - 4.5 cr
