Description
Health care in Sweden is one of the best in the world, yet many frail older people do not receive appropriate health care. Today’s highly specialized acute care is poorly adapted to the comprehensive care needs of frail older people. The acute care therefore exposes frail older people to avoidable risks such as loss of functional capacities causing unnecessary social and health care needs and increased mortality. Care given according to Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) has shown many benefits for older patients, but there is a lack of studies in Swedish acute care of today. This Project aims to evaluate CGA for frail older people in a randomized controlled study in Swedish health care.
