Economics

Welcome to the Department of Economics at Dalarna University!

Our department gives courses in Economics from undergraduate level up to Master's level. The Economics department is built based on Applied microeconomic research especially focusing Transport, Tourism and Environmental Economics topics. Research has at large been funded by the Swedish Road and Rail administrations (Vägverket, Banverket) and the courses focus Econometrics, Cost-Benefit Analysis and Public Economics.  

Today the department is closely connected to the Transport Economic unit at the Swedish National Road and Transport Institute, VTI. The research and teaching staff currently consists of one Professor in Applied microeconomics, one Professor in Transport Economics, one Associate professor, seven Senior lecturers and Ph.D.:s, one Ph.Lic., three Ph.D.-students and one teaching assistant.

The research at the department can be described as Applied microeconomics with a focus on transport, tourism and environmental applications. The research today also includes health, spatial and regional economics, behavioral and experimental economics as well as public finance. Several of our researcher are members of research groups that together forms the Graduate School "Fundaments for Economic Growth" with base at Örebro University.
