Programme HEELA

Master’s Programme in English with Specialisation in Literature in English

Study the development of literary theory through an examination of the relationship between language, literature and culture, while also developing your analytical, critical-thinking and communication skills to prepare you for the global workplace.
60 Credits Second Cycle

A degree in the humanities demonstrates your ability to communicate both in writing and in speech. You will develop your ability to analyse and solve problems, all while learning in the international environment that Dalarna University offers. By studying English literature, you will gain important skills that are transferable and essential in all walks of life. Furthermore, you will develop a real understanding of literature, which forms the basis of culture and society worldwide.

Research Defines Programme Content

The Master's Programme in English has its foundation in the ongoing research in the fields of Irish, British, American and Postcolonial Literature being conducted in the Department of English at Dalarna University. The programme helps you gain and develop advanced skills in research methodology, and encourages you both to disseminate your research findings and to participate actively in academic debate through attendance at conferences and the publishing of your work.

Flexible Studies

The programme is taught interactively online over one or two academic years depending on whether you study full-time or part-time. The online programme, with its interactive web-based seminars and recorded lectures, serves to replicate the traditional classroom experience: you will enjoy interactive features and real-time discussions with classmates no matter, quite literally, where in the world they might be. Importantly, teaching methods are used in the online courses that have been specifically developed to support students in their non-campus studies.
Please note that since the programme is taught online, it is not possible to get a residence permit to live in Sweden if you are a citizen of a non-EU country.
