Materials Science Group

The Materials Science Group is a part of School of Information and Engineering at Dalarna University.

Common research questions deal with the mechanical, tribological and corrosion induced degradation of materials and coatings, e.g. additive manufactured (3D printed) alloys and CVD and PVD coatings.

The research is mainly based on field and laboratory testing, characterization and evaluation and is conducted in close collaboration with industry, research institutes and other universities.

Our laboratory facilities include equipment for mechanical, corrosion and tribological testing of materials and characterization techniques such as SEM, EDS, EBSD, AES, ToF-SIMS and in-situ mechanical testing.
