Learning Outcomes
The overall goal of the course is that the student will be able to demonstrate a deepened knowledge of methods and an ability to integrate knowledge of the main area of sexual, reproductive and perinatal health in the different steps of the research process.
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Apply for ethical approval
- Apply for permission to collect data in the organisation of health care
- Collect data according to ethical and judicial principles
- Take care of and keep collected data in an ethical and legally secure way
- Analyse and present the research process and results in a trustworthy way
- Use an accepted reference system in a systematic way
- Write the different parts of the thesis work independently and with web-based assistance
- Present and defend the thesis work in a scientific and professional manner
- Present the results to health care clients
- Search, evaluate and use relevant scientific literature in the thesis
- Defend the thesis in opponent/respondent seminars
- Keep to the schedule, use the templates and abide by the examination rules.
Course Content
The student will write a thesis in the form of a scientific paper, defend the thesis and also act as an opponent to theses of other students.
Assessment
Seminars and a thesis are examination criteria of the course.
Forms of Study
Individual work, supervision and compulsory seminars are the ways of working.
Grades
The Swedish grades A–F.

Prerequisites
- A Bachelors degree comprising at least 180 credits, with a major in Caring Science/Nursing
