Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to:
- Identify major political science issues and perspectives
- Show an ability to search and evaluate social science source material relevant to political science
- Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods.
Course Content
The course covers basic social science methodology, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The course includes elements of critical appraisal of research and application exercises in both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Assessment
Written and oral presentations and the active participation of the student during the seminars.
Forms of Study
Lectures and mandatory seminars.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
Number of credits:
- Written assignment and seminars, 7.5 credits.
Prerequisites
- A minimum of 22,5 Credits, first cycle level in Political Sciences
Other Information
The course is included in the Social Science Programme and the course package Political Science II. The course replaces SK1051.
The course cannot be counted towards the final degree alongside Method in Social Science - Sociology, 7.5 credits and Method in Social Science - International Relations, 7.5 credits because the course content overlaps.
