Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course the student should be able to:
- present their acquired knowledge in linguistic theory and the most important analytical methods in general linguistics and sociolinguistics in good oral and written Italian
- practically apply this acquired knowledge to Italian language examples
- present in writing a clear argument in a stylistically effective and appropriate manner, by using correct terminology, according to one of the research methods in linguistics.
Course Content
The course is an introduction to linguistic theories and methods with a special focus on normative and actual Italian. The texts under study cover the following topics:

Assessment
Examination takes the form of active participation in seminars, obligatory written assignments, and writing a small essay.
Forms of Study
The course, which is web-based and completely distance-based, is conducted in Italian, and is given through lectures and seminars.
Grades
The Swedish grades U–VG.
