Beginner Studies in Swedish for International Students III

Starts week 3, 2024

The overall aim of the course is that the student develops knowledge of the Swedish language. After completion of the course the student should be able to:

  • understand, report and discuss different types of texts in simple Swedish and identify and reflect upon grammatical structures.
  • communicate in different situations, take stands and discuss a situation or a phenomenon in simple Swedish.
  • understand and relate to another person’s opinions and express his or her own, orally and in writing in a simple and easily comprehensive way.
  • read a simple text on his or her own, understand and report on its main contents.
  • apply basic grammatical knowledge orally and in writing.
  • given some instruction, improve the grammar in a text produced either by him- or herself or another student.

Computer Skills:

Surf on the Internet, read and send emails, use a word-processing programme (e.g. Word). Plug in peripherals to your computer, install programmes and adapt installations for your computer.

Computer Capacity:

Access to a computer (Not a mini pc, tablet or similar) that is not older than two years (or equivalent) and broadband connection, at least 2 Mbit/s (not mobile broadband, because mobile broadband can vary considerably in speed).

Means of Education:

Higher rate of web-based communication where our learning platform (Learn/Canvas) is a natural element of the course, as are web-based meetings using sound and image. Lectures can be broadcast live or can alternatively be made available afterwards online. Use more advanced programmes – for example, simulation programmes.
