Learning outcomes for the course

The overall goal with the thesis is to give students the opportunity to apply and deepen previously acquired knowledge and skills by conducting a scientifically based study that give the student deeper knowledge and skills in the thesis subject.

After completing the course, students should be able to:

Knowledge and understanding

  • demonstrate knowledge regarding research strategy, data collection and analytical methods and relevant research in the field of Informatics
  • Skills and ability
  • identify, formulate and argue concerning a problem within the subject of Informatics
  • plan and conduct literature reviews related to the problem formulated
  • plan and conduct a scientifically based study, ie, choosing strategy, data collection and analysis method, based on a problem
  • Present their findings in an oral presentation and in a written report
  • use different perspectives to see the problem from different perspectives, , argue for the chosen method, and apply an ethical relation manner towards those affected by a scientific work
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete tasks within a given timeframe

Judgement and approach

  • analyze and discuss the results of studies related to a problem
  • evaluate and give constructive criticism in a thesis work
  • critically review and evaluate their own academic work and provide examples of the methodological options that might possibly have been improved the work
