After completing this course, students will, in modern Japanese, be able to:
- with some ease, read texts in which intermediate level grammar, vocabulary and kanji are used, and retell their contents
- carry out ordinary conversation in Japanese by utilizing expressions on a level necessary for daily communication about familiar topics
- give short prepared presentations on various familiar topics
- express their opinions on such topics and discuss the opinions of others
- organize and lead class projects
- analyze the grammatical structure of intermediate level texts and use these structures in writing
- describe some common aspects of contemporary Japanese society and everyday culture.
