Learning outcomes for the course
The overall purpose of this course is to prepare the student for the task of writing a linguistic or literary thesis at the advanced level.
After completing the course, students shall, in French, be able to:
- demonstrate a good knowledge of different types of argumentation that arise in different texts such as scientific articles, reviews and dissertations
- describe the structures of scientific texts
- practically apply the above knowledge in the form of various independently conducted analysis assignments in close to perfect French
- analyze and discuss, in the form of constructive feedback, the scholarly work of others by pointing out its strengths as well as weaknesses.
