Contemporary extreme Islamism has strong apocalyptic hopes attached to the idea of the Caliphate. These are partially investigated, but much remains to be done. The purpose of this project is to investigate how historical apocalyptic beliefs in Islam have been raised and partly transformed in today's extreme movements.
